How to replace a drill chuck?--QINFENG HARDWARE
1.Press the locking tabs on the side of the battery with your fingers and pull the battery out of the Hitachi cordless drill. The battery is below the handle on your drill. 2.Hold the ring with one hand and turn the chuck sleeve counterclockwise with your other hand to open the chuck fully. The ring is the portion next to the turning sleeve on the chuck. 3.Look inside the center of the chuck and locate the Phillips-head screw that secures the chuck to the spindle. This screw is a left-hand screw. Turn the screw clockwise with a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screw. 4.Insert the short end of a large Allen wrench into the chuck just like you would a drill bit. Tighten the chuck around the Allen wrench. Lay the drill on its side with the long portion of the Allen wrench pointing to the left. Strike the Allen wrench hard with a mallet to loosen the chuck from the spindle. 5.Open the chuck enough to remove the Allen wrench, and turn the chuck counterclockwise to remove the chuck from the drill. 6.Thread the replacement chuck over the spindle on the drill. You do not need to tighten the chuck, as the force of drilling will tighten the chuck. 7.Open the chuck jaws fully and secure the chuck to the Hitachi drill with the retaining screw. Place the battery back into the drill handle.

How to use drill chuck?--QINFENG HARDWARE
A drill is a must-have item for any home owner or construction professional. Drills are available in a variety of sizes and weights, and are run on a battery or an electrical cord. Older drills required the use of a special key, called a chuck, to change out the drill bit. Most newer models of drills are called keyless chuck drills and do not require this specialized key. Keyless chuck drills make jobs much faster and enable you to change out drill bits rapidly. 1.Hold the keyless chuck drill in your hand so that the end where the drill bit goes is facing upward. 2.Grasp the large plastic collar located around the end of the drill with one hand. The collar has thin tabs or ribbing on it to make it easier to grip. 3.Grasp the smaller extension at the end of the collar with your other hand. This is called the drill sleeve. Turn the sleeve counterclockwise until the center opening is large enough to insert a drill bit. 4. Insert a drill bit into the center of the opening with the sharp side of the bit facing outward. 5.Grasp the drill sleeve and turn it clockwise to secure the drill bit in place. When the sleeve will no longer turn, the bit is locked securely into the drill. 6.Use the drill as normal. When you are done, twist the sleeve counterclockwise to remove the drill bit and place it into the drill case for safe storage.

How does a drill chuck work?--QINFENG HARDWARE
A drill chuck is a specialized clamp designed to hold drill bits in place while they are being rotated by the drill. The chucks nearly always have three jaws that press down on the drill bit so that it won't slip when it pressed against a surface that it needs to penetrate. They can also be used to hold bits and tools heads of other rotary tools. Once a bit is inserted into the chuck, the jaws are tightened on the bit by rotating a threaded screw. The screw threads and the threads on the backs of the jaw pieces are on an angled surface. By turning the screw to the right, the screw moves down the tapered surface to the thicker area, which causes the jaws to press against the bit. Hand-tightening the chuck is easy. You simply twist the internal screw to the right as tightly as you can, but the chuck can loosen if there is too much torque applied to the bit when drilling. That's where a chuck key helps. The end of the chuck key inserts into a hole on the side of the chuck so that a gear ring on top of the internal screw and a small gear ring on the chuck key interlock. By turning the chuck key, you get greater torque on the internal screw to tighten it even better than by using your hand alone. To remove a drill bit, the internal screw is turned to the left, either by hand or using the chuck key. The screw moves up the tapered surface to the thinner areas, which loosens the jaws so the bit can be removed. High-precision drills may use ball thrust bearings to reduce friction in the chuck and maximize the torque. Hammer drills use a special direct system that hold the bit in place with wedges moving into a groove in the bit.
